For a balanced outfit and optimum performance, we offer a selection of rods designed specifically for our Reels. Each rod is designed to match the model of Alvey reel indicated in the description. They have the recommended stripper guide size and spacing (distance from reel to first guide), and reversed reel seats. All models have foregrips sized for holding the rod in front of the reel for a fly rod type balance. Butt grips are short, but still long enough to fit in a sand spike or rod holder. For surf casting, especially, this design is much less tiring than having to reach out to the reel when casting and retrieving as is typical with long butt grip style rods..
